Maries Rebucas is a Filipino surfer, yoga teacher, retreat leader, and regenerative land developer. She grew up with the ocean as her first teacher a relationship that has never left her and that runs through everything she has built.
With over sixteen years of yoga teaching experience and a career spent at the intersection of surf, embodiment, and conscious community, Maries has dedicated her professional life to one central question: what does it look like to build spaces that genuinely change people and that do it without costing the earth?
Diwa Tierra and Surfer Goddess Retreats are her answers to that question. Two distinct projects, one unified vision grounded in the belief that the quality of the environment determines the quality of the experience, every single time

Founded in 2021. Built for the world.
Surfer Goddess Retreats was founded by Maries in 2021 in Playa Santa Teresa, Costa Rica one of Central America's most celebrated surf destinations. What began as a single program on a single coastline has grown into a global retreat brand with an expanding presence across some of the world's most extraordinary surf and wellness destinations.
Surfer Goddess Retreats is built on the intersection of surf, yoga, somatic movement, and authentic community. It is a program designed not just to teach people to surf but to use the ocean as a vehicle for something deeper. For courage. For presence. For the particular kind of confidence that only comes from facing something that demands everything you have and discovering you are more than enough.

Costa Rica Where it all began. Playa Santa Teresa remains the heartbeat of Surfer Goddess Retreats a world-class wave, a vibrant community, and the coastline that first proved the model.
Bali One of the world's great surf and wellness destinations. Bali brings together the spiritual depth of Balinese culture, exceptional waves, and a global community of practitioners that makes every program richer for it.
Sri Lanka An emerging destination of extraordinary beauty with warm water, uncrowded breaks, and a culture of genuine warmth and hospitality that creates the conditions for real transformation.
Philippines A homecoming. The Philippines holds a particular significance for Maries bringing Surfer Goddess Retreats to the archipelago she comes from is both a personal milestone and a natural expression of the brand's global vision.
Morocco The Atlantic coast of Morocco offers some of Europe and Africa's most consistent surf alongside a landscape, a culture, and a light that is unlike anywhere else in the world. A destination that moves people before they even get in the water.
And Beyond Surfer Goddess Retreats is a living, growing program. New destinations are added as the right locations, the right partnerships, and the right communities come together. The vision has always been global and it is getting there.

The permanent home
Diwa Tierra Andalucía is the most significant project of Maries' career. Twenty acres of fertile land above Playa El Palmar in Cádiz Province, southern Spain currently in active development as a fully integrated regenerative eco retreat center.
Where Surfer Goddess Retreats moves across the world, Diwa Tierra stays. It is the permanent base, the long-term vision, and the place where everything Maries has learned about land, community, and conscious hospitality comes together in one living, breathing ecosystem.
The two projects are designed to complement each other. Surfer Goddess Retreats brings a global community of aligned individuals to extraordinary destinations. Diwa Tierra gives that community a home a place to return to, to invest in, and to belong to for the long term.

Where the foundation was laid
Before Andalucía, there was Rancho Mastatal. The Diwa Tierra Retreat at Rancho Mastatal in the mountains of Puriscal, Costa Rica, is where the Diwa Tierra philosophy first took physical form immersive programs in regenerative living, daily yoga and somatic practice, permaculture education, and conscious community within a working ecological farm spanning over 300 acres of tropical forest.
This program continues to run and remains open for enrollment. It is the proof of concept for everything being built in Spain and a remarkable destination in its own right.
The Philosophy
What drives everything
Everything Maries builds whether a single retreat program or a twenty-acre sanctuary is guided by the same set of convictions.
That the ocean teaches what no classroom can. That land is a living system to be participated in, not consumed. That genuine community is one of the most powerful catalysts for personal change available to us. That the world needs more spaces built with this kind of care and that building them is not idealistic. It is necessary.
Her Filipino heritage, her years in the water, her practice on the mat, and her experience holding space for people across some of the world's most extraordinary landscapes are all present in everything she creates. This is not work done from a distance. It is lived, practiced, and deeply personal.

A note from Maries
"I did not set out to build a global retreat brand or a regenerative sanctuary in southern Spain. I set out to understand what it means to live well in a body, on land, in community, in the ocean. Everything I have built has come from following that inquiry as honestly as I know how.
Surfer Goddess Retreats gave me the world. Diwa Tierra is giving me a home. And the work the retreats, the programs, the surf lessons, the gatherings is the ongoing practice of everything I believe about what human beings are capable of when they are given the right environment and the right support.
